Shaker painting with watercolours❤ It's been a rainy week and we took an opportunity to play outside in between rain storms 💚 I quarter filled plastic salt & pepper shakers with water and added a few drops of food colouring to each shaker. I put a sheet of watercolour paper onto a plastic cafe tray and dropped a sheet of calico onto the deck to catch any spills 💙 Mr 17 months was really interested in the colours splatting onto the paper as he tipped and shook the shakers. He tried every shaker systematically, putting the lids back onto each pot when he had finished. As well as shaking & splattering he also enjoyed smearing the watercolours over the paper with his hands 💛 This was a wonderful experience that engaged my little artist for a long time as he explored each colour individually, colour mixing and the different techniques he could use to create art ❤
Note: The food colouring was diluted enough that it didn't stain his hands. I washed his hands afterwards with soapy water
